My Husband, My Life, My Airman

This is my first blog so I don't really know how long it's going to be. I have been an Air Force wife since March 29, 2009. That was the day that my whole life changed. I had to learn how to deal with my husband being gone for 8.5 weeks and then learn how to deal with him being gone for 5 more months for tech school. I learned a lot about myself while DH was gone, it was the hardest thing I've ever done, but looking back it made our marriage so much stronger. I am married to a proud American Airman, he is my hero and my life. We got married March 7, 2009 and 3 weeks later he left for basic. His BMT graduation was one of the best experiences of my life. I thought the whole time how proud I was of him and how I couldn't believe that I was a military wife. That is something that I never thought I would be. My husband originally went into the AF for Air Traffic Control, but after two months he realized it wasn't for him, so he changed to finance. We are stationed in South Dakota and let me tell you it was a big adjustment moving here. We've been here since November and I am just now feeling like this is home. I've made wonderful friends, and I love being here. Terry's schedule is 6 a.m.- 3 p.m. Mon-Fri. and he has weekends off. It's nice to get to spend every evening with him and every weekend. I didn't like it here when we first got here. We are from WV and this was just a huge change. I missed my family. I wasn't a happy person for awhile after moving here. But now that I've adjusted I'm so glad that we are here. It's actually a nice place and there are alot of things to do, you just have to be open to do new and different things. We have a pretty great summer planned so far. My parents are coming to stay a few weeks in June and his parents are coming in August. We have planned on going to Mall of America and to Denver to the amusement parks. That's all we have planned for now, but it sounds pretty great to me. We went back home to WV for 2 weeks on leave in April and it was so good to see our family. We are planning another trip in October or for Christmas, we haven't decided yet. I am so excited to see where we go next, I've always wanted to travel and what better way to get to travel but by being in the AF? I look forward to our lives together, it's only just begun!!
